Collectivo began as an idea in 2016 and was founded by Vail Fletcher, a professor of gender and environmental studies with a fascination for the handmade, Jessica Helgerson, an interior designer with a deep affection for Mexico, and Cristina Niculescu, a travel-loving Spanish professor. Collectivo collects beautiful handmade goods straight from the source, with these three women traveling to remote indigenous villages to meet the makers and learn about the age-old traditions behind each craft and document the hours, weeks or even months that go into making a single piece. Each region has its natural materials, each village its speciality, and each family its own take on tradition. Their mission is to share with you their love for Mexico through the artistry and stories they collect along the way and Collectivo brings you these treasures and the stories behind them. You can find Collectivo at ourcollectivo.com and on Instagram @ourcollectivo.

Your podcast will be my weekend treat with knitting! I am so glad you are back posting your podcasts again! 🙂
Thank you so much for your podcast and this amazing giveaway!!
I’m so happy your podcast is back!
Thank you so much for this podcast (and for doing everything that it takes to make it). I am always inspired and encouraged to know that there is a whole community of us who truly understand and appreciate the work of craftswomen like the ones at Collectivo.
I so glad your very thoughtful podcast is back up and running. Wonderful story this episode.
Loved this episode. I didn’t know anything about Mexican making. Beautiful culture.
Always a treat to listen to your podcasts. Interested in the broader focus and your new collaboration.
This was so lovely. And I’m so glad the podcast is back in general!
Great episode! I could easily visualize the colors and the people. We all need to get out of our little houses and unite with family and friends.
I loved hearing about the simplicity and timelessness of the makers’ wardrobes. It makes me want to assess my own wardrobe to determine what I should really be hanging on to.
Another excellent episode. May I suggest that when you have two or three people on the podcast, they give a quick introduction so the listener knows who is who. Otherwise, it can take a while to figure out.
I thought the same thing! Otherwise I loved hearing their story and look forward to more.
What a treat, both the podcast and the giveaway! Thank you!
I love the idea of helping people preserve their traditions and heritage in this homogeneous world we live in. They deserve our support to keep going or else it will die out. Great episode!
O my! I would love to try Moeke yarn…I want to knit a Junko Okamoto sweater!
loved the podcast – loved learning about Collectivo. BEAUTIFUL products!
I was moved by their love and passion for beautiful crafts by ordinary people’s hands.
Thanks so much Making podcast!
Sounds amazing! Thank you for the opportunity!
THanks for making such a great podcast and sharing these inspiring stories! I love listening but there is one thing I think of from time to time… Can I suggest that when you have more than one guest you introduce them (or they introduce themselves) so we listeners knew which voice is which guest?
Thank you for the inspiration. Have a great day!
Another great story! Thank you.
I’ve just found your podcast aND have quite enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing.
Wishing you much success in your new collaboration! We are truly lucky knitters 🙂
I was so happy the Woolful podcast was back as Making, delighted to have a monthly dose of fiber interview and inspiration!
It is such a pleasure to learn about other makers in other countries – thanks so much for your thoughtful interviews !
After an hiatus it feels so good to be back to listen to all these stories of people who inspire me so much.
It was a pleasure to know Anna’s story.
