Sponsor: Moeke Yarns was founded by Ioana van Deurzen in 2014, alongside her brother Radu, his wife and their parents. Ioana and her family have an incredible story, which you can hear about in Episode 8, and this story is what spurred the dream and now reality of creating a yarn company. The Moeke yarns are full of character, from the unique European breeds they’re made of, to the traditional Romanian spinning mills. From her childhood, growing up in Romania during the revolution, her immersion in fiber through her grandmother and her purposeful journey to bring something back to the Romanian community, Moeke yarns is one of my favorite yarns and I hope it becomes one of yours as well.

And beginning September 12th is the MY Makealong, an international event dedicated to knitting, crocheting and weaving. This make along is a celebration of fiber arts, bringing together designers, makers and shop owners who all share the same values: a deep love for making and respect for nature, while being committed to helping preserve the local traditions and economies. You can find more info on how to join at moeke-yarns.com and on Instagram @moekeyarns. Visit Ravelry for a selection of beautiful patterns created with Moeke Yarns, designed by Junko Okamoto, Francoise Danoy, Susan Vische and more. Those lovely Indian Women. What a great job for them to have. I’m totally in love with chunky fun yarns this year. It seems like everyone wants to knit with perfect fingering yarns. But, I just adore how fast chunky anything knits up. It’s such a great thing to introduce to a new knitter, as well.

  • Reply Fi September 4, 2016 at 11:44 pm

Another fab interview – was it just me, or does Amy sound exactly like Susan B. Anderson when she speaks? I kept having to remind myself that it it wasn’t Susan!

Thank you for another opportunity to win another awesome prize! 🙂

  • Reply Julia September 5, 2016 at 12:57 pm

I really love the combination of so many colours with natural shades, definitely reminds me of what got me started on learning to spin and dye myself. Haven’t tried inclusions of non-wool yet, but maybe someday!

  • Reply Loretta September 5, 2016 at 2:58 pm

What incredibly fun yarn! It reminds me to try bulky yarns since I’m usually using much smaller weights!

  • Reply Dana Nelms September 5, 2016 at 5:22 pm

Great podcast! Time to try big and bulky again!

What an amazing yarn and fiber story § Thanks a lot.

  • Reply Ashlyn September 7, 2016 at 8:10 am

I am usually a neutrals only kind of girl, and my co-workers even pick on me about my aversion to color, BUT THIS YARN! I want to make all the happy things with it. Just lovely!

  • Reply Leanne September 7, 2016 at 10:31 am

I had never heard of Amy or her yarn and now I’m obsessed!!! I’m also not usually a bulky yarn kind of girl, but I am now drooling over this fun yarn. And Free People is one of my favorite brands so I really enjoyed hearing all the background of her career. It’s always interesting to hear how people got started. This was a great podcast. Good job ladies!!!

I couldn’t quite visualize what this yarn looked like until I looked it up after listening to the podcast, and I was blown away by the amazing colors and textures. Thanks for another great episode!

  • Reply Vicki September 8, 2016 at 11:41 am

I really love this podcast and the creativity of the folks interviewed is very inspiring. Hearing Amy’s story in her own upbeat voice was great fun. I, too, checked out her website and some of the yarns really jumped out at me. I’m in the process of decorating the living quarters part of my horse trailer in a bohemian style and I could see her Swirl Yarn cut in strands, with beads at the end as curtains at my “kitchen” table. Will have to get me some of that yarn.

  • Reply Meagan September 8, 2016 at 5:34 pm

Wow, that looks like such interesting yarn, beautiful!

  • Reply Vicki Lynch September 9, 2016 at 4:51 am

That was such an interesting story. The yarn is different than what I was imagining while I was driving, but so pretty in the photos. I think it’s great that you just up and moved to places so different than what you grew up with. My thoughts strayed to how you managed the language barriers, but I guess it wasn’t an obstacle.
Moeke yarn is a favorite. I’ve knit one of a pair of socks with it, but now I’m thinking of frogging it to use the yarn in one of the projects that should be available on the 12th.

  • Reply Stacy September 9, 2016 at 1:50 pm

I really enjoyed this episode. The yarn is amazing. Thank you for sharing your story.

I don’t know what rock I was under. I listened to my first Woolful episode this morning after Susan B. Anderson shared that you interviewed her. Then I listened to this one with Amy. What a lovely spirit you draw out of people! I so enjoyed the two episodes and i look forward to seeing your next episode pop up in my feeder. Yes, I’m now a subscriber! Thanks so much.
