I’m charmed by these old fiber inspired videos. Found another lovely little mini-doc “From Fiber to Fabric” narrated by Orson Welles, where he walks you through the history of wool, from Egyptian times to the then present day (1977). I believe it was originally intended as an educational piece in academic studies, but any wool person is sure to love it as well. xoxo
I’m excited to share another wool inspired documentary, Sleep Furiously. This charming documentary is set in a small farming community in Wales and follows the daily life of its residents. Though not focused solely on sheep, they weave their way in and out of the story, painting an idyllic picture in a somewhat troubling reality. The community is facing unwelcome change as the old ways die out and new ways move in. A really wonderful watch during those evening knitting sessions! Available free through Amazon Prime.
Most nights after the little guy is asleep, I get an hour or two to knit my little heart out. I usually spend this time catching up on documentaries or fun and interesting videos having anything to do with fiber or sheep. I’ll be sharing some of these and other “woolspiration” as I find them.
I am completely enamored with this short video I found from the 1940’s about the Scottish wool industry. It’s completely charming as it very briefly covers the history of wool in the UK, sheep breeds and wool processing.
